Airborne W-band Doppler Radar

W-band airborne weather radar is the first cloud W-band radar with independent intellectual property rights in China. It can be carried into test area directly by high mobility aircraft to detect the structure of cloud and vertical air distribution within the cloud.
Airborne W-band cloud radar adopts coherent Doppler system, applied with the polarization system of single emission and double receiving’. Double receivers receive the component of horizontal polarization (co-polarization) and vertical polarization (orthogonal polarization) of backscatter echo, then provide reflectance factor (dBz), linear depolarization ratio (LDR), the average radial velocity (V) and velocity spectrum width (W), and other important parameters of target cloud, so that provide a more effective means of detection for cloud target detection and atmospheric science research work.
